Kampot pepper farm tour: a practical countryside day

Plan your Kampot pepper farm tour around one confirmed farm visit. Arrange transport, check booking requirements, and treat extra stops as optional.

Best for: A morning farm visit, with time for lunch and the return journey

Start with La Plantation

La Plantation offers guided walks through its pepper and spice growing areas, followed by a tasting. Its visitor page lists daily farm opening from 9am to 6pm, with the last standard guided visit at 4pm. The restaurant lists 7am to 3pm. Cooking classes require at least 24 hours' notice.

Check booking requirements before leaving. The visitor page says advance booking applies from October to March, but individual tour headings say no booking is needed through October. For an October visit, confirm directly rather than assuming you can walk in.

Tour prices: Confirm the current price of your chosen tour directly with La Plantation before travelling. Published information conflicts, so do not assume the standard tour and tasting are free or included in your transport booking.

Arrange transport before departure

This is a countryside outing, not an old-town walking route. Arrange a tuk-tuk or driver, or suitable independent transport.

Transport budget: Kimseng Express's travel guide quotes approximately US$15-25 for a return tuk-tuk from Kampot. Treat this as a planning estimate, not a confirmed current fare. Agree on the total vehicle price, waiting time, stops and return journey before departure.

A transport booking does not necessarily include farm activities or lunch. Keep enough time for the visit rather than collecting farm names. One confirmed stop is more useful than several gates you have not checked.

Add another farm only after confirmation

Sothy's can be considered as a second stop, but current operator hours and booking terms have not been directly verified for this guide. Confirm access before adding it to your route.

The same applies to BoTree, Sindora and Starling. Do not treat a directory listing or map marker as confirmation that visitors are being received that day. There is no need to visit multiple farms to make the day worthwhile.

Keep the salt fields optional

Add the salt fields only if they fit your agreed route and the conditions are worth the detour. Do not plan around a guaranteed view of white salt beds or active harvesting.

Leave Bokor for another day. This outing works best when the farm visit is the point, not one stop in an overloaded itinerary.

Sources and what to confirm

Source check: 17 October 2026. La Plantation's visitor page provides the opening times, activities and conflicting October booking instructions. Confirm current terms using the contact or booking details on that page.

Kimseng Express's travel guide provides the indicative transport range. Its activity pricing is internally inconsistent, so this guide does not use it as a confirmed farm tariff. Other farms' access and salt-field conditions still need direct confirmation.

Businesses to discuss for your countryside route

Cafe Espresso, listed at 17 National Road 33 on the east side of town, is a coffee option before or after a countryside drive. It is not a cafe at the cave, lake or salt ponds; confirm its current hours and whether it fits your approach.

La Plantation, in Bosjheng, offers farm-visit activities. Treat it as a separate booking and drive, not a nearby refreshment stop. Confirm activity prices, booking requirements and meal service directly.

Peppercorn Tuk Tuk is a directory option for arranging a countryside day. Ask for the specific stops, pickup, waiting time, inclusions and return plan. The listing has no public storefront pin, so contact the operator rather than looking for an office near the attraction.

These are optional businesses for planning the wider route, not a proximity ranking or a requirement to visit all three. Check road connections with your driver; a shared region does not establish travel time. This editorial shortlist is not a paid-placement ranking.

Questions

Is La Plantation in Kampot old town?
No. The listing places it in Bosjheng village, east of Kampot. It publishes 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a last guided tour at 4:00 PM. Confirm that clock the same day.
Do the smaller Kampot pepper farms publish a daily clock?
Sothy's, BoTree and Sindora do not have a daily clock this page repeats. Message them or book the visit. BoTree and Sindora also have no public doorway pin in the directory.
Is the Kampot Pepper Shop a farm?
No. The Kampot Pepper Shop is at 46 Street 724 in the old town. It sells bags of pepper. It does not replace the ride to Bosjheng.
Do I need a ticket for the salt fields?
No ticket window is listed. They are working flats on the Kep road. October ponds can be green rather than white.
