Healthcare: know the location before you need it

Kampot Referral Hospital is the public hospital listed on Street 716, north of the old market. The editor attended for emergency care in October 2026 after an accident, confirming that emergency care was available during that visit. This firsthand experience is not a complete list of services or a guarantee about individual departments, hours or outcomes.

For a planned appointment, ask the facility about the service you need, appointment arrangements, language support and payment or insurance requirements. If a referral or transfer is needed, discuss arrangements with the treating facility and your insurer; do not assume every serious condition requires the same destination.

In an emergency, seek immediate medical assistance rather than waiting to compare directory listings or confirm routine appointment hours. This article is for advance planning, not medical assessment or emergency dispatch.

Pharmacies and regular medicines

Ucare Kampot Pharmacy is listed on Street 724 in the Old Town. Davy Pharmacy is listed by Kampong Bay Bridge on Street 735. Use the individual pages for contacts and location notes, and confirm current hours before a non-urgent visit.

For regular medication, ask a qualified pharmacist or your clinician about availability and prescription requirements before your supply runs low. Bring the medicine's generic name, strength and prescription information. A directory listing does not confirm stock or suitability, and this guide does not recommend substitutions.

Browse the health and medical directory for other listed facilities. Choose care for the service required, not simply the closest map pin.

Cash withdrawals and opening a bank account are different tasks

ABA Bank's Kampot branch is listed at No. 14, Ek Reach Road. Its listing separates the branch location from the wider ATM network. Check counter hours directly; an accessible ATM does not mean the branch counter is open.

Before using an ATM, check the displayed card-network support, withdrawal currency, limit and operator fee. Your own bank may charge separately. Acceptance of one visitor's card does not establish acceptance of every foreign-issued card.

For a foreign applicant opening a local account, the local requirement confirmed for this guide is a rental contract verified by the local police administration. Check with your chosen bank and local police administration about the accepted contract, verification process and any other documents before applying; requirements can vary by bank.

Confirm account fees and mobile-banking access with the bank rather than assuming a passport or long stay alone is sufficient.

Use the banks directory to compare listed locations. Keep a cash backup in small denominations and confirm the currency and amount before paying, especially where electronic payment is unavailable.

KHQR: check your payment app, not just the shop's code

The National Bank of Cambodia's Bakong information page describes KHQR as a standard that allows a single merchant QR code to accept payments through participating payment-service operators. It is not a promise that any foreign banking app can scan and pay.

Before relying on QR payments, confirm with your bank or app provider that your account supports the merchant's KHQR payment, including the currency, funding method, fees and transaction limits. Any visitor-focused or cross-border option has its own eligibility and setup requirements.

Check the recipient name, amount and currency in your app before confirming. Let the merchant confirm receipt, and keep another payment method available if the app, connection or supported payment route is unavailable.

Groceries: find a repeatable shopping route

FairPlus Supermarket Kampot is listed on Street 33 in Kompong Kandal. It is a starting point for checking your shopping list, not a guarantee of particular imported foods, dietary products or household brands. Ask the shop about specific items and current hours before making a special trip.

The central fresh-food market is Phsar Samaki, also called Samaki Market or Central Market. It is also a place to shop for clothing. Sizing may run smaller than some Western shoppers expect, so check the fit before buying.

Use the markets and grocery listings to compare other listed places and confirm their locations and current details. The Kampot Night Market is an evening-stall destination, while Kampong Trach Market is in a separate district town; neither is a substitute for Phsar Samaki's central fresh-food market.

Keep your everyday essentials close to hand

Keep facility contacts, your insurer's assistance details and useful addresses accessible before you need them. The Kampot map helps locate listed places, but its distance sorting is straight-line distance rather than road journey time.

For day-to-day browsing, use the Kampot business directory; for transport providers, see the transport directory. Confirm the pickup location, destination and fare directly rather than using an intercity bus guide as a local transport plan.

This guide focuses on everyday services during a longer stay, not visa advice, a lodging comparison or a tourist itinerary. Listing information is a starting point: check current services and terms directly before relying on them.
