Start with where your journey begins

From Phnom Penh, compare the train, intercity bus and a private car. From Techo Airport, public transport requires a city transfer; check connection points before choosing.

The airport express bus connects Techo International Airport with Phnom Penh, not Kampot. The airport's published route lists Kouch Kanong Circle and city stops including Canadia Garden, by Royal Cambodian Railways. You still need a separately confirmed train or bus departure. Check the airport's current public-transport information on your travel day.

A pre-arranged private transfer may take you directly from the airport to your Kampot address. Ask the provider to confirm the pickup, vehicle, total price, luggage allowance and what happens if your flight is delayed. Do not assume a journey time from a general estimate.

Train from Phnom Penh

Royal Railway's Southern Line serves Kampot from Phnom Penh. The train is an option if the departure on your date fits; check the operator's current passenger-train route information and ticket availability rather than relying on a remembered timetable or fare.

Kampot Railway Station is on National Road 3, north of the old town. Plan onward transport with luggage instead of assuming the station is in the walkable grid. The Kampot railway guide covers the arrival point and how to confirm the train.

Bus or minivan from Phnom Penh

Intercity buses and minivans are another option. Check the operator's actual departure point, time, baggage rules and fare for your date; a ticket-office address does not necessarily identify where every service boards.

Giant Ibis publishes a Phnom Penh–Kampot route and lists its Kampot arrival at the Street 724 office. Confirm those details against your own booking. Its route page and schedule are the source for its current service. Our Giant Ibis guide explains the distinction between the Kampot office and the railway station.

Compare the whole journey, not just the ticket

For an airport arrival, include the ride into Phnom Penh, the transfer to the intercity departure point and any waiting time. For a train or bus arriving in Kampot, allow for a separate ride to your accommodation. A private transfer may avoid those changes, but confirm its price and conditions directly.

Fares, departure times and airport services can change. Check the date-specific booking or operator information before leaving, leave a buffer between separate tickets and do not treat an online office pin as a guaranteed boarding point.

Once in Kampot, browse the transport listings for local options. Open the dedicated bus or rail guide for that operator's arrival logistics rather than repeating its timetable here.
