Lok Yeay Mao statue on the Bokor road: A stop on the way up
By Kampot Guide · Published 12 October 2026 · Sources checked 10 October 2026
Lok Yeay Mao is the oversized statue on the Bokor climb, well before the plateau resorts. It is a stop on the way up, not the summit.
What you will see
OpenStreetMap marks a sitting Lok Yeay Mao statue and a separate nearby parking area. The stop can offer a view back toward the coast when cloud and visibility allow; a clear panorama is not guaranteed.
Access and parking
This guide has no confirmed opening schedule for the roadside statue. That does not mean access is unrestricted at every hour. Respect the site, any worshippers and posted instructions.
Use the parking area where permitted rather than stopping on a mountain bend. Follow local signs and take care walking between the parking area and the statue, especially in mist or rain.
Next along the road
The Black Palace ruins at Damnak Sla Khmao are a separate nearby stop on the climb. Name both stops when agreeing the route with your driver, rather than assuming the statue and palace are the same pin.
Both belong to the climb before the plateau, not the summit itself. Use the Bokor Mountain guide for the wider day, and check current access before committing to either stop.
Businesses for the mountain trip, not a walking detour
Thansur Bokor is a listed resort on the plateau, useful to consider if you want a mountain stay. Ask directly about current room availability and whether dining is available to day visitors; a resort listing does not promise walk-in access.
Bohemiaz Resort & Spa is a lower-area option listed west of town around National Road 3, with a restaurant. It is not on the summit or beside the statue, church or waterfall. Confirm the actual approach and any detour with your driver before considering a meal there.
These are transport-based options at different parts of a mountain outing, not two nearby doors or a guaranteed sequence. Check current access and service before departure. This editorial shortlist is not a paid-placement ranking.
